Education Centre Teaching

Our education programme involves scheduled afternoon teaching sessions and we provide facilities for self-directed morning group work. Sessions are run for 30 weeks per year in the Education Centre at West Suffolk Hospital. When not on day-release education trainees are expected to be working at either their hospital or GP placement.

The programme consists of two sessions, both facilitated by one of the GP educators.

Day release education, GP Training at Bury St Edmunds, West Suffolk

Morning session

Facilities for self-directed experiential group work are available for trainees in ST1 & ST3 general practice posts. These discussion groups are where practical day-to-day experience is linked to academic course content or consultation skills can be simulated in a safe environment.

Afternoon session

Follows a structured programme based on the GP curriculum developed by the Royal College of General Practitioners. Afternoon sessions are for all trainees attached to the scheme.
